Roof alterations are modifications to an existing commercial roof — new equipment curbs, penetrations, drains, skylights, walkway pads or tie-ins for building additions — performed so the roof remains watertight and its warranty remains valid. Statesville Roofing coordinates alterations with mechanical, electrical and general contractors across North Carolina.
Tenant upfits, new rooftop units, solar arrays and building additions all cut into the roof. When a mechanical contractor's helper does the flashing, the leak shows up six months later and the roofing warranty is gone.
Have the roofing contractor do the roofing. We flash curbs, pipes and drains to manufacturer detail, tie new roof sections into old, and document the work so your warranty is preserved or extended.

Roof Alterations questions, answered
Will adding an HVAC unit void my roof warranty?
It can, if the curb flashing is done by someone other than an authorized roofing contractor or with incompatible materials. Having us flash the curb keeps the warranty intact.
Can you add drains to fix ponding water?
Yes. New drains or overflow scuppers, combined with tapered insulation crickets, are the standard fix for chronic ponding.
Do you work with our HVAC or general contractor?
Yes. We coordinate directly with other trades so penetrations are located, flashed and sealed in the right sequence.
